In 1968, Jim started in business by opening an APCO full-service filling station and hired his younger brother Dave, to help out. Soon after opening, Dave moved on and Jim hired Brian, a friend of the family, to take Dave's place. Jim's venture in doing basic car maintenance and selling Goodyear tires grew quickly. This growth initiated the construction of Jim's Tire & Auto Service, Inc., a Goodyear concept store, just north of Harry, on Rock Road.

Throughout the years, Jim's Tire and Auto has become a family owned and operated business. Three of Jim's sons help out in running the family business to this day. Brent, Jim's oldest son, has been with him for 26 years. His middle son, Brad, has been with him for 19 years. The last to come on board was Todd, who is going into his 10th year. The remaining seven employees all have been with Jim at least 2 years and Brian is going on his 38th year!

With the help of good employees and great customers, Jim's Tire & Auto has grown from selling tires and doing complete car repair, to Wichita's premier lawn and garden equipment servicing dealer as well. Selling and servicing top rated brands like Toro, Lawn-Boy, Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, and STIHL has enabled Jim's Tire & Auto to become a force to be reckoned with!
